Job Description

    Job Title: Partner Designate - Patent (12 years experience)Job Overview:As a Partner Designate - Patent, you will be at the forefront of managing complex patent portfolios, driving strategic patent initiatives, and contributing to the firms growth. This senior role entails managing high-stakes patent litigation, providing expert advice on intellectual property issues, fostering client relationships, and guiding junior team members. You will work closely with firm leadership to shape the patent strategy and enhance the firms overall reputation in the intellectual property space.Key Responsibilities:1. Patent Strategy & Leadership:
    • Lead the firms patent prosecution and litigation strategies, advising clients on critical patent matters including patentability, patent enforcement, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
    • Manage large and complex patent portfolios, identifying new opportunities for filings, monetization, and strategic patent litigation.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to define and implement the firms overall patent strategy, aligning it with both client and business objectives.
    2. Client Relationship & Business Development:
    • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, acting as their trusted advisor for all patent-related matters.
    • Play a central role in business development activities, such as pitching to new clients, identifying cross-selling opportunities, and expanding the firms IP practice.
    • Lead client meetings, delivering high-level patent counsel and ensuring client satisfaction through timely, responsive, and strategic solutions.
    3. Patent Litigation & Enforcement:
    • Lead or supervise patent litigation and dispute resolution, managing all aspects from infringement analysis to defense and settlement negotiations.
    • Represent clients in negotiations, patent trials, and settlements, including managing the preparation of legal briefs, motions, and court filings.
    4. Leadership & Mentorship:
    • Mentor junior associates and paralegals, helping to develop their technical legal expertise and guiding them through complex cases.
    • Act as a role model for both legal and ethical standards, demonstrating leadership, high-level client service, and professionalism.
    • Oversee the work of junior associates, ensuring that patent filings, litigation, and other deliverables meet high-quality standards.
    5. Strategic Planning & Firm Development:
    • Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the firms IP practice, helping to set short- and long-term goals for the department.
    • Actively participate in firm management, including setting policy, participating in management meetings, and shaping the future of the practice.
    6. IP Transactions & Licensing:
    • Lead patent licensing negotiations, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and technology transfers, providing strategic guidance on IP-related business transactions.
    • Advise clients on patent valuations, IP monetization, and leveraging intellectual property for business growth.
    7. Legal Research & Continuing Education:
    • Stay abreast of developments in patent law, technological advancements, and industry trends to provide cutting-edge legal advice.
    • Attend and represent the firm at relevant IP seminars, conferences, and workshops, contributing to the firms thought leadership and professional development
