Job Description

Designation:Updated: November 20, 2024Location:Organization::Job Purpose: To support SH Mechanical (RMH) in planning, organizing & coordinating the implementation of field operation & maintenance activities in RMHS & stacker for optimum plant availability within optimum cost to meet production target. Execution of improvement/modification jobs for cost reduction and productivity improvement along with manpower planning and spare parts management, system implementation for best practices by ensuring a pollution-free and safe working environment.Job Context & Major ChallengesJob Context:Balaji Cement Works is located 200 km from Hyderabad, around 12 km from National Highway No 65. It has a cement manufacturing capacity of 5 MTPA and clinker capacity of 3.6 MTPA (kiln rated capacity 10,000 TPD). The entire grinding capacity is at one location. Limestone requirement of the unit is 6.0 MTPA. To meet the limestone requirement, Budawada Limestone Mine is spread over 629.22 Ha, having deposits sufficient for around 60 years. Two limestone crushers with a capacity of 900 TPH each, are located inside the unit, 2.7 km from the mine. Material is transported from the mine to the unit through dumpers.The unit has two captive thermal power plants of 35 MW and 22.5 MW each in addition to a 15 MVA grid power connection with SEB to cater to the entire power requirement of the unit. The unit has a private railway siding for its inbound/outbound material/fuel/cement & clinker movement. There is a 12 KM water pipeline from Krishna River to the unit to meet the water requirement of the unit and township.The focus area for the job holder is to ensure operation and maintenance activities of Raw Material Handling & Stacker section in the plant and ensuring availability of mechanical equipment to deliver desired quantities of raw material for plant operations. The position is also responsible for providing timely and accurate information to management for taking strategic decisions, coordination with technical teams, and supervising over the activities of team members.Key Result AreasKRA1: Plant Availability

  • Plan, organize, and monitor implementation activities for optimum plant availability in Mechanical Discipline as per target to meet production from cement mill as per requirement.
  • Coordinate the execution of maintenance activities.
  • Ensure periodic checking and manpower planning for daily jobs.
  • Proper job planning for shutdown jobs and spare parts planning for both major shutdowns and basic requirements.
  • Analyze major/minor breakdowns and plan corrective actions accordingly.
  • Interact with OEM and suppliers for critical equipment problem elimination.
  • Execute all major jobs during shutdowns, plan contractor jobs, and raise service work orders.
  • Attend coordination meetings to discuss plant performance and collect related feedback.
KRA2: Improvement Implementation
  • Plan and implement activities for optimum plant availability in Mechanical Discipline.
  • Identify, plan, and implement small modifications for better equipment performance.
  • Proper coordination with other departments.
  • Provide training to workmen through development programs for skill upgrades.
  • Procure advanced quality tools for job execution.
  • Monitor equipment health and maintain records.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and follow good maintenance practices.
KRA3: Cost Control
  • Plan, monitor, and control spares, lubricants inventory, and manpower costs as per budget.
  • Prepare budget for RMHS area and monitor expenditures.
  • Classify critical and less critical spares for procurement.
  • Conduct life value analysis for high-value spares and inspect materials as per OEM requirements.
  • Monitor store inventory reduction and optimization.
  • Identify maintenance cost reduction parameters.
KRA4: System Management
  • Implement improvement projects to reduce repetitive problems/breakdowns or losses.
  • Timely submission of Kaizen, OPL, suggestions for system improvements.
  • Participate in KFA & GRT meetings to bring new technology and innovation.
  • Conduct awareness programs for team understanding of IMS and system requirements.
KRA5: Focus on SHE
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and recommendations.
  • Educate team members on job hazards and control measures.
  • Conduct scheduled SO rounds and report incidents.
  • Conduct daily Tool Box Talks and engage in safety training.
  • Ensure good housekeeping and environmental practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Engineering
