Job Description

    Job Title: Plant Safety ManagerJob DescriptionThe Plant Safety Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel, contractors, and visitors within the plant premises. They are responsible for implementing, managing, and continually improving safety programs, policies, and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards. The Plant Safety Manager works closely with all departments to promote a culture of safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities
    • Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as industry best practices.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the plant facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
    • Collaborate with department managers to assess safety risks associated with their operations and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
    • Provide safety training and education programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to promote awareness and compliance with safety protocols.
    • Investigate accidents, near misses, and safety incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, inspections, training, and compliance activities.
    • Coordinate with external regulatory agencies and participate in inspections and audits as necessary.
    • Stay informed about emerging safety trends, regulations, and technologies to continuously improve safety programs and practices.
    • Act as a liaison between management, employees, and regulatory agencies regarding safety-related matters.
    • Lead emergency response and crisis management efforts to ensure a prompt and effective response to incidents such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Advanced degree or certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
    • Proven experience in industrial safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
    • In-depth knowledge of occupational safety regulations and industry standards.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, analyze data, and develop effective safety strategies.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels and external stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities with the capability to influence and motivate others to prioritize safety.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies outside of regular business hours as needed.
    • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of occupational health and safety.
