OverviewThe role of a Nuclear Medical Technologist is essential in the healthcare sector, primarily focused on diagnosing and treating patients using nuclear imaging techniques. Operate gamma cameras and other imaging equipment effectively. Analyze images to identify abnormalities or diseases. Maintain equipment and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Monitor patient reactions to radiopharmaceuticals. Ensure compliance with radiation safety and handling protocols. Document patient procedures and maintain accurate records. Prepare examination rooms and maintain cleanliness and safety. Educate patients about procedures and answer their concerns. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Stay updated on advancements in nuclear medicine technology. Contribute to departmental quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Participate in training and mentoring of junior staff. Assist with research studies in nuclear medicine. Adhere to policies regarding chemical and hazardous waste disposal.Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field. Current certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (ARRT or NMTCB). Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in nuclear medicine. Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance practices. Strong understanding of radiation physics and safety measures. Ability to work with medical imaging software. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Skilled in handling medical equipment and technology. Basic life support (BLS) certification required. Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical skills. Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced environments. Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards. Proficient in patient assessment and care protocols. Familiarity with laboratory practices and procedure documentation. Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
