Job Description

Roles and ResponsibilitiesPOSITION PURPOSE:Initiate develop and deliver the short, mid- and long-term innovation pipeline for India that meets our growth ambition. This pipeline will create a strong business and valuable brands. Localisation of R&D development activities is a priority. Building and manage a network of 3rd parties to increase self-sufficiency, reliability, agility, profitability and in-market competitivenes. Responsible to the Indian leadership team, accountable to the R&D Strategy Team. Ability to deliver within this local and matrixed environment required.YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop new products locally though a network of external innovation partners and contract manufacturing organisations
  • Work as part of a local cross-functional team partnering with functions including Marketing, Regulatory, Regulatory and Product Supply
  • Leverage central R&D functions scale and capabilities as required including External Innovation & Partnering, Design & Packaging, Business Protection & Compliance
  • Ensure innovation is Front Line Focused and meets local needs
  • Develop the BEST ideas, science and product experience for our consumers deliver at pace via our agile innovation engine
  • Develop short- and long-term innovation plans for our Indian Market that deliver our strategic growth objectives
  • Drive innovation that enlarges our leading brands in Nutrition & Pain Categories, accelerate growth by supporting challenger brands in Allergy and Derma niche segments
  • Partner with local and GCBUs teams to ensure ongoing brand freshness and leadership across all Categories
  • Define the Scientific content of Target Product Profiles
  • Secure any necessary innovation approvals, document activities, plan activities and project manage to cost time and quality
  • Manage the local R&D budget
  • Ensure Compliance with Legislation and Bayer policies, cooperate with the relevant functions in the Pharma Division (Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance)
WHO YOU ARE:
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in Consumer Health R&D and broad understanding of the Indian OTC environment
  • Knowledge of medical / development / regulatory and marketing requirements for our product categories
  • Ability to apply scientific knowledge to maximize consumer benefits and commercial applications.
  • Proven track record in innovative product design and development, claims management, project delivery and portfolio management.
  • Insights through professional experience and/or close working cooperation with Marketing functions; at least a solid understanding of key marketing aspects, processes and tools
  • Experience of vendor management and 3rd party SLA enforcement
  • English fluency and preferably a second language
  • Outstanding leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to make things happen - energy and enthusiasm
  • Excellent R&D network and negotiation skills
  • Comfortable with standalone leadership position
  • Passion for quality results
