Job Description

    The Milk Procurement Officer/Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the procurement of milk from farmers, milk producers, and cooperative societies. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and quantity of milk, establishing and nurturing relationships with suppliers, and optimizing procurement costs to align with the companys production requirements.Your primary responsibilities will include planning, managing, and executing milk procurement operations to meet daily production needs. You will be tasked with developing effective sourcing strategies to ensure a steady and reliable supply of milk, while also monitoring milk collection centers to uphold quality standards. Building and maintaining strong relationships with farmers, milk societies, and cooperatives will be essential in this role.Additionally, you will be accountable for ensuring that the procured milk meets the companys quality standards. Collaborating with the Quality Assurance team, you will conduct regular checks on milk samples to uphold these standards. Data management is also a key aspect of the role, as you will be required to maintain accurate records of milk procurement, analyze data to forecast future requirements, and optimize procurement strategies accordingly.Effective team coordination is vital, as you will supervise and train field procurement staff to enhance efficiency and collaborate with logistics teams to facilitate the smooth transportation of milk to processing units. Compliance with local regulations and company policies is imperative, and you will be expected to provide regular reports on procurement activities to senior management.To excel in this role, you should possess a strong understanding of the dairy industry and milk supply chain, excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills, and proficiency in data analysis tools. Knowledge of milk quality testing techniques and standards, effective communication, and leadership skills are also essential. The ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and familiarity with rural areas for engaging with farmers and cooperatives are advantageous qualities.The ideal candidate for this position should hold a Bachelors degree in Agriculture, Dairy Technology, Business Management, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of experience in milk procurement or dairy operations. Key performance indicators for this role include the volume of milk procured against targets, cost per liter of milk procured, percentage of milk meeting quality standards, and the timeliness of milk collection and delivery.This is a full-time position with benefits such as paid sick time, and the work location is in person.
