Principal, Data Science - R&D

Job Description

As a Senior Data Scientist at Alcon, you will play a vital role in the Data Science & AI function in R&D, focusing on leveraging cutting-edge AI-driven solutions for new medical device innovation. Your primary responsibilities will include:- Leading the design and development of generative AI models for new product development, particularly leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and Large Multi-Modal (LMM) AI systems combining text and image data.- Applying generative AI, LLMs, and multi-modal models to solve real-world problems in the medical device industry.- Demonstrating expertise in algorithm development, coding, algorithm testing, validation, and software development for Medical Device.- Utilizing tools such as AWS Bedrock, Azure AI Studio, and other cloud-based platforms to deploy, manage, and optimize AI models.- Applying advanced data science techniques, including natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and machine learning to enhance product functionality.Preferred Qualifications for this role include:- Bachelors, M.S. (preferred) or Ph.D. (preferred) in Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Optics, or related quantitative fields.- Proven experience in applying AI/ML methods for real-world problem solving in the medical device industry or equivalent industry and/or academic experience.- Proficiency in Python programming and data science libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch).- At least 3 years of hands-on working experience in applying AI/ML methods for real-world problem solving in the medical device industry or equivalent industry experience.This role offers you an ideal opportunity to utilize your passion for applying AI/ML in the health-care sector.
