Job Description

    Engineer, R&D, Lifecycle Management, Elastomeric Component DevelopmentPOSITION SUMMARY:Hands-on engineer, responsible for support of the global life cycle management / continuous engineering function for component systems. This will include following up on performance related product complaints, supporting product line extensions (processing, packaging, etc.), writing/reviewing/updating design history product documentation, learning and becoming a knowledge resource for selected packaging components of the current West product portfolio. This individual will bring excellent analytical skills and engineering expertise to the group in an effort to maintain Wests position as the market leader for pharmaceutical primary packaging components.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: List primary duties and responsibilities of the job in order of importance and with percentage of time spent on each duty / responsibility. If this is a management level position, include supervisory responsibilities.Oversight of product development documentation (design history files) in accordance with procedures/guidance focused on West developed elastomeric products.Collaboration with component systems product development teams to expand product offerings in terms of adding value (RS/RU, Envision, Packaging, etc.) to elastomer components after initial development.Oversight of continued product development testing upon component systems product launches (aging studies for design verification)Perform/support risk analysis for product performance based on process changes and/or market intelligence.Effectively report on projects/tasks to upper managementSupport and/or execute selected projects/tasks as neededSupport or leadership of selected internal development programs to enable or improve core technical competencies of component system group.Performs other duties as assigned based on business needsConforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: List required education level and/or equivalent experience and any required skills or certifications consistent with Wests leveling guidelines.Education or Equivalent Experience: Bachelors in Mechanical, Materials, Bio-medical, Chemical Engineering or other Engineering discipline.Experience: 2-4 years of experience in product development, product lifecycle management and/or transfer of new products and processes from R&D into production.Practical work experience in elastomer product development and/or processing to develop custom products or related experience (polymeric design, processing, fabrication)Fluency in EnglishPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: List any preferred education, skills, and/or experience.Experience: 2-5 years of experience in product development, product lifecycle management and/or transfer of new products and processes from R&D into production.Knowledge and experience in new product development, commercialization, & product lifecycle managementKnowledge of tooling design & development for elastomeric or polymeric productsExperience in product design verification and validation for the medical industryExperience in Medical Device Design Control / Pharmaceutical Quality by Design a plusStrong interpersonal skills,
