Job Description

    Hatchery Manager Job DescriptionThe Candidate is responsible for the overall successful operation of the hatchery, ensuring it meets production targets, maintains high quality standards, and adheres to budget constraints. This role combines technical expertise in hatchery processes with leadership and business acumen.Responsibilities:
    • Production Management:
      • Oversee all aspects of hatchery operations, including egg receiving, incubation, hatching, chick processing (vaccination, grading, packing), and shipping.
      • Develop and implement hatchery schedules to meet customer demand and market forecasts.
      • Manage broodstock program (if applicable) to ensure a steady supply of high-quality eggs.
      • Maintain biosecurity protocols to prevent the spread of diseases.
    • Team Leadership:
      • Supervise and train hatchery staff, ensuring they understand and follow procedures.
      • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
      • Address any staff performance issues.
    • Financial Management:
      • Develop and manage the hatchery budget.
      • Monitor expenses and identify areas for cost savings.
    • Facility and Equipment Management:
      • Oversee the maintenance and repair of hatchery equipment.
      • Ensure the hatchery meets all safety and sanitation regulations.
    • Quality Assurance:
      • Implement and oversee a quality assurance program to ensure chicks meet health and quality standards.
      • Monitor and record hatchery performance metrics.
    • Other:
      • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in hatchery management.
      • Prepare reports for management.
      • Maintain accurate records of hatchery operations.
      • Strong understanding of hatchery processes, including incubation, chick processing, and sanitation.
      • Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
      • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
      • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in Poultry Science, Aquaculture, or a related field (preferred).
    • Minimum of 9-15 years of experience in hatchery operations, preferably in a supervisory role.
