Job Description

S&P Global Market IntelligenceThe Team: Sr. Distributed System Engineer will be part of a small but very technically savvy group in MI, responsible for designing and supporting a distributed system platform based on Apache Hadoop deployed, via Ansible tool, on AWS EC2 instances and used by over 300+ developers for their DEV, QA and PROD activities.The Impact: The team resolves all the problems associated with the platform as sometimes employs the services of other AWS administrative teams. The team optimizes the work of platform and sometimes also the applications running on it, and also upgrades all the software whenever the need arises. All deployments and codes changes in the platform are coded and deployed via the Ansible administrative tool. A successful candidate will have well developed professional work practice in working with massively distributed systems under Linux environmentsWhats in it for you:

  • The candidate will be responsible for:
  • Designing, development and coding the system
  • Deploying the changes across all environments
  • Help development teams to optimize their code
  • Find and optimize bottlenecks on applications and system levels
  • Support the applications in their development cycle
  • Support DEV,QA and PROD environments
What Were Looking For:
  • Strong experience in distributed commuting field on system level
  • Programming experience in working with massive distributed computational and data sets
  • Strong linux based systems administration skills
  • 5-7 years experience with C/C++ AND Java and Python
