Job Description

    Key Responsibilities:1. OT Management & Supervision: Oversee the daily functioning of the operation theatre and ensure smooth workflow. Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and other medical staff for scheduled and emergency surgeries. Maintain OT inventory, including surgical instruments, disposables, and medications. Ensure proper sterilization and infection control protocols are followed. Monitor and supervise the OT staff, including scrub nurses, circulating nurses, and technicians.2. Scrub Nurse Responsibilities: Prepare the OT before surgery, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are available. Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other materials as required. Maintain sterility and uphold aseptic techniques throughout the surgical procedure. Handle surgical instruments efficiently and ensure their proper sterilization and maintenance. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and assist in emergency situations.3. Compliance & Safety: Adhere to hospital infection control protocols, sterilization standards, and surgical safety guidelines. Ensure compliance with NABH, JCI, or other accreditation standards. Participate in quality improvement programs and audits related to OT practices. Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures, instrument usage, and OT incidents.4. Team Leadership & Training: Lead and mentor OT nursing staff, providing guidance and support. Conduct training sessions for nurses and technicians on OT procedures, infection control, and new surgical techniques. Manage staff duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing during surgeries.5. Emergency & Crisis Management: Respond swiftly to surgical emergencies and provide necessary assistance. Ensure proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials. Coordinate with ICU and recovery room staff for post-operative patient care.Qualifications & Requirements: Education: B.Sc. Nursing / GNM with OT specialization. Experience: Minimum 3-5 years as a scrub nurse, with at least 1-2 years in an OT in-charge role. Certifications: BLS & ACLS certification preferred. Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile techniques. Excellent organizational and leadership abilities. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
