Senior Information Security Engineer Consultant

Job Description

You will be part of a global organization, Optum, that aims to deliver care using technology to improve the health outcomes of millions of people. Your work with the team will involve maintaining a large inventory of application delivery controllers such as F5, A10, AVI, WAF, NGINX, etc. Here, you will have the opportunity to positively contribute to application uptime, troubleshoot complex network issues, and execute projects related to load balancer upgrades, onboarding applications to Web App Firewalls, SSL/TLS inspection, and more. Your role will also involve automating tasks, documenting topology diagrams, securing applications from malicious traffic, and responding to on-call engagements.**Key Responsibilities:**- Maintain a large inventory of application delivery controllers alongside a team of engineering colleagues- Contribute to over 99.99% application uptime by deploying load balancers and configuring load balanced applications- Troubleshoot complex network layer 1-7 issues and communicate status updates to stakeholders- Execute assigned projects without causing application impact and following change control process requirements- Engineer innovative solutions using scripting/automation and a software engineering mindset- Automate repeatable tasks using scripting languages and tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, etc- Document topology diagrams and MOPs for manual engineering tasks- Secure applications from malicious HTTP/S traffic using web application firewalls- Respond to high priority on-call engagements within 15 minutes in a rotation- Be available to work occasional weekends and nights during off-hour change windows- Work self-directed on less structured, complex issues and serve as a resource to others**Qualifications Required:**- Graduate degree or equivalent experience- 5 years of experience with application delivery controllers and other network appliances- 3 years of experience automating network infrastructure tasks- 3 years of supporting cloud native applications in Azure, GCP, or AWS- 1 years of experience with AI Technologies and automating self-serve capabilities in security- Ideal candidate has experience with various load balancers, cloud providers, and scripting automation- Experience or knowledge on Web Application Firewall and application security- Experience or knowledge on Cloud-based web application and firewallOptum, as a part of UnitedHealth Group, is committed to helping people live healthier lives and improving the health system for everyone.
