Staff Platform Systems AdministratorPune / Maharashtra / IndiaThis position is for a Staff Product Developer at BMC Zsolutions Research and Development. Candidate must be internally motivated, and possess a successful work record. Experience with working in a team environment and be flexible in working hours to work with a US based team is a requirement.EDUCATIONRequires a BS degree or equivalent experience in z/OS Mainframe technologyROLEBMC is seeking an experienced and customer-focused mainframe Infrastructure Engineer. This person is responsible for packaging, enhancing and monitoring internal systems used to deliver mainframe products to BMC customers. This includes monitoring and maintaining automated processes, trouble shooting failures and coordinating with product teams to ensure fixes, releases and enhancements are delivered. Working knowledge of SMP/E, CLIST, TSO, REXX skills is required. Must be able to work with JCL and IBM utilities to perform maintenance tasks. Must be able to resolve issues and be familiar with systems software not limited to, but including z/OS, CICS, IMS, MQ, DB2 and storage management practices. Should be familiar with BMC software products, especially from an installation and customization perspective. Expert SMP/E knowledge is a plus.Job duties:Primary responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the BMC internal processes that deliver SMP/E software to BMCs z/OS customers. This includes daily validation of appropriate job completions, notifications to product teams on status of maintenance, consulting advice on SMP/E issues and validation of all PTFs prior to general distribution.Provides technical support for product teams using the internally developed maintenance delivery tools.Implement daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly maintenance to internal testbeds to avoid SMP/E conflicts.Perform problem analysis and work with product teams to resolve problems on all supported systems.Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing basic issues. Error message resolution and problem analysis for abends required.Provide internal product teams and BMC customer assistance in resolving SMP/E problems as needed.Use creativity to employ automation and innovative solutions.Participate in BMC beta/early ship/early support programs.Support BMC disaster recovery/business continuity programs as directed.Validate, document and escalate design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs.EXPERIENCE5 to 10 years of IBM zSeries (mainframe) System Programming expertise. Must have experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting mainframe issues. Familiarity with IBM system utilities and JCL is needed.Desired Skills/qualifications:Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work issues to resolution.Ability to meet set deadlines for daily/weekly/monthly PTF management processes.Familiarity with TCP/IP, CICS, DB2, MQ, IMS as well as TSO, CLIST, REXX and ISPF.
