Job Description

OverviewWe are looking for Senior Product Manager - Linux to join our team! Our group is responsible for the Linux operating systems that power Azure from VMs and containers, to bare metal, and silicon in the cloud and at the edge. We work closely with upstream communities, with software and hardware vendors, OEMs, Linux distribution partners, and with hundreds of customers inside and outside Microsoft to create and operate OS platforms and products with the highest security, hardware-accelerated performance, and innovation agility. More than 30 PERCENT of our team is remote, and women make up more than 40 PERCENT of the Linux team. Our team prides itself on its diverse and inclusive hybrid team culture.Azures Linux partner ecosystem is fundamental to Azures success. In this role you will engage with our endorsed distribution partners at the engineering level to deliver new features, hardware support, manage distribution lifecycles on Azure, and work collaboratively to enhance the Linux experience on Azure. Youll be an advocate for the distributions and open source within Microsoft, as well as represent Azure to the Linux communities.   • Bachelors Degree AND 5 years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
  • 1 years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Experience working in the Linux ecosystem, or other open-source community ecosystem.
  • Experience managing diverse stakeholder relationships, and presenting complex information clearly.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree AND 7 years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with cloud environments, deployments at scale, or cloud products.
  • Effective collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
  • Knowledge of modern technology concepts such as containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, and general open-source fundamentals.
Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.   • You will drive alignment and collaboration between Linux distro partners and Azure services.
  • You will work with teams across Microsoft to plan, prioritize, and deliver on the roadmap for features and lifecycle needs that enable partner distributions and customers.
  • You will identify areas where Microsoft can meaningfully engage with and contribute to upstream open source projects and communities.
  • You will enable sustainability of customer solutions by providing or updating documentation, best practices, and guidelines as well as advocating for improvements in support processes.
  • You will proactively work with partners across the ecosystem to identify and obtain certifications, and security benchmarks, to meet or exceed customer requirements.
