The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Youre a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives, and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements, and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical). As part of the global controls team, you will work with motivated experts and innovators in the data center industry. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, project management, and maintaining the Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS). Using Google leadership principles, you will develop new processes and standards while innovating in the controls space.Google Data centers have multiple components such as generators, UPS, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, etc. All these components have local control systems that interact with each other via open or proprietary communications protocols. The BMS is the primary method of control of all mechanical systems within a data center. The EPMS is the primary method of monitoring all electrical systems for data centers. Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Googles product portfolio possible. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
