Job Description

As a Senior Engineering Manager at Ford Credit Technology Team in India, you will lead a team of Software Engineers and Technical Program Managers based out of FBS Chennai. Your role will involve managing and delivering products such as Ford Billing and Invoicing in Ford Credit. You will collaborate directly with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, Architects, and Product Owners to build, validate, and release software products early and often in a dynamic and collaborative environment.**Key Responsibilities:**- Provide hands-on leadership and supervision for a software development team.- Facilitate technical architecture discussions around application functionality and integration.- Develop engineering, professional, and career-related skills for software engineers using coaching, mentorship, feedback, and pair programming.- Work closely with Product Managers to develop products used by Ford Credit loan/lease, Ford Motor vehicle, and Ford Mobility subscription services customers.- Actively identify risks and implement mitigation and contingency plans, focusing on early mitigation or elimination of risks.- Verify that the delivered software product meets desired business outcomes.- Actively participate in all team Agile ceremonies and employ Agile software processes, culture, best practices, and techniques.- Communicate openly and frequently with the team, being responsive to in-person or messaging tool prompts.- Assess the overall health of the product and prompt key decisions to move it forward.- Define analytics to be collected regarding the product and prioritize their collection.- Review ongoing production software operations and help troubleshoot production issues.- Incorporate post-incident reviews like postmortems to identify opportunities for improvement.**Qualifications Required:**- Bachelors degree in information technology or computer science, or a similar discipline.- At least ten years of experience in a Software Engineering role.- Strong knowledge of Java, JavaScript, React, Spring Boot, Google Cloud Platform, etc.- Strong knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-native databases.- Strong knowledge of Software Craftsmanship practices including TDD, Clean Code, Refactoring, etc.- Experience working with DevOps/Security tools like GitHub, Cloud Build, Tekton, 42Crunch, FOSSA, SonarQube, Cycode, etc.- Knowledge of working with Agile software methodologies i.e., Scrum, eXtreme Programming, etc.- Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to coach and teach others.- Ability to work collaboratively with others and navigate complex decision-making.- Ability to collaborate well with product managers, designers, and business partners.- Experience with Copilot or other AI tools for code creation, review, and/or even spec-driven development.
