Job Description

Risk Management is an independent function of JPMorgan Asset Management and has dedicated teams with separate reporting lines from the Asset Management business. The role is an Analyst or Associate role responsible for managing all aspects of the Asset Management Counterparty Risk Oversight Framework.
    • Liaise with the CIB (Corporate & Investment Bank) for counterparty risk assessments
    • Communicate counterparty approval requests with traders, portfolio managers, business managers, trade support, product delivery, data management team, legal, etc.
    • Set up and manage thresholds in the Counterparty Management System for counterparty activities such as securities lending, FX, loan trading, reserve repos, etc. and co-ordinate approvals as well as manage unapproved counterparty exposures for review and escalation
    • Follow the AM Counterparty Risk procedures
    • Ongoing Risk Monitoring by way of trigger reviews and counterparty or portfolio deep dives
    • Monitor counterparty risk thresholds, and escalate the threshold breaches with risk recommendations to the AM CRO
    • Perform on-going monitoring and periodic reviews of approved counterparties (market implied credit metrics report
    • Manage day-to-day matters arising from the administration and monitoring of approved credit thresholds and guidelines
      • Solid understanding of ISDA documentation and ability to set credit terms
      • Participate in the AM Counterparty Risk Forum and prepare for the Counterpart Risk agenda item
      • Contribute to periodic review of analytics, risk assessment methodologies, and reporting capabilities
      • Contribute to team-wide efforts such as methodology enhancements, portfolio review and challenge
      • Work with senior members of the team in the implementation of key analytical and technology projects. Serve as an AM Counterparty Risk contact for our business partners

    • Prior credit risk experience highly preferred
    • Working knowledge of trading products and risk measurement methods (FX, Derivatives, Repos, CDS, Structured Products)
    • Working understanding of counterparty legal agreements and ability to distinguish salience and purpose credit terms desirable
    • Evidence of credit skills and judgment along with a strong risk control mindset
    • Verbal and written communication and presentation skills ability to present risk exposure and appropriate risk management recommendations to stakeholders
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand, communicate and rationalize complex issues which may impact counterparties and relevant industries
    • Ability to identify potential impacts of industry / market events to risk positions in the portfolio and analyze exposures and structural considerations accordingly
    • Work independently - fulfill objectives with minimum supervision
    • Ability to question / analyze and substantiate analysis
    • Escalation ensures problems have appropriate prominence and sense of urgency
    • Attention to detail to ensure that work meets highest quality standards
    • Good team player - listen and consider the views of others
    • Strong required working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Tableau and/or Python skills preferred
