Job Description

    You will have the opportunity to work with a leading Integrated Steel manufacturer in Chennai, where you will be responsible for leading the warehousing and supply chain teams.About Our ClientOur client is a well-established enterprise in South India, leading the market in production and distribution of TMT Bars.Job DescriptionSupply Chain Management- Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.- Plan and optimize material flow from suppliers to plants and from warehouses to customers.- Identify cost reduction opportunities in transportation, sourcing, and logistics operations.- Manage vendor performance and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).Warehouse Management- Oversee warehouse operations across multiple locations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and dispatch.- Optimize warehouse layout, space utilization, and material handling processes.- Implement warehouse automation, WMS, and best practices to improve productivity and accuracy.- Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and company policies.Inventory Control- Maintain high inventory accuracy (target 99.8% and above).- Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages, excess inventory, and obsolescence.- Implement FIFO/FEFO practices and manage slow-moving and non-moving inventory.Procurement & Logistics- Support strategic sourcing and contract negotiations with key vendors and logistics partners.- Manage transportation planning, route optimization, and freight cost control.- Coordinate with 3PLs, transporters, and internal fleet operations.Performance & Reporting- Define and monitor KPIs such as inventory turnover, order fulfillment rate, logistics cost per unit, and warehouse productivity.- Prepare MIS reports and present insights to senior management.- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.Cross-Functional Coordination- Work closely with production, sales, finance, and quality teams to ensure smooth operations.- Support business expansion, new warehouse setup, and system implementation projects.The Successful Applicant- Education: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business Administration.- MBA in Supply Chain / Operations Management preferred.- Experience: 15-25 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or warehouse management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.- Certifications: APICS CSCP / CPIM or equivalent certifications preferred.- Preferred Industry: Candidates from the building materials industry, particularly Steel/Cement, where there are large numbers of warehouses/godowns.Whats on Offer- Competitive salary package- Opportunities for professional growth in a growing organization.- Collaborative and structured work environment.
