Director - Platform Engineer - AI Capabilities

Job Description

As the Platform Engineer AI Capabilities at AstraZeneca, you will play a crucial role in leading the design, development, testing, and deployment of capabilities that leverage Artificial Intelligence to drive successful business outcomes. You will collaborate with various teams within the Data, Analytics, and AI (DAAI) team to ensure the alignment of platform capabilities and support MLOps operations. Your responsibilities will include:- Leading design, development, testing, and deployment activities for AI Capabilities within the DAAI portfolio.- Maintaining a deep working knowledge of AI Capabilities to continuously improve performance, efficiency, and functionality.- Ensuring alignment of DAAI platform capabilities to support MLOps operations and workflows.- Collaborating with Global Capability and Product Engineering colleagues to drive the capability backlog.- Evaluating new technology products and services, and providing recommendations for fit and prioritization within capability roadmaps.- Leading, mentoring, and coaching offshore Platform Engineering teams to ensure quality and successful outcomes.- Maintaining partnerships with contract service providers and providing technical oversight of their delivery teams.- Identifying, prioritizing, and acting upon continuous improvement opportunities in collaboration with Platform Success colleagues.- Ensuring feature releases align with business and functional requirements and adhere to project schedules in partnership with Platform Delivery colleagues.In terms of qualifications, skills, and experience, you should have:- Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.- 7 years of experience in a software engineering role.- 3 years of experience developing data/analytics capabilities on cloud platforms.- 1 year of experience developing solutions that leverage Foundation Models (FMs).- Understanding of platforms and tools utilized within MLOps workflows.- Working knowledge of ML frameworks, libraries, and technologies.- Experience with languages/libraries applicable within data/analytics contexts.- Expertise in Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) methods and tools.- Understanding of cloud security principles implemented via identity and access controls.- Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development methodology.- Strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills.Desirable qualifications and experience include working within a DevOps delivery model, experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry, and understanding of AWS services and cloud-based data/analytics platforms.Your key relationships will be with internal teams such as Data & AI Global Capability, Architecture, Cloud Solutions Engineering, and external stakeholders including platform/software vendors and contract service providers.
