Job Description

As a Software Test Automation Engineer at Caterpillar Inc., your work plays a vital role in shaping the world around us. With your 5-7 years of experience in software testing, including at least 5 years focused on test automation using Java and other test tools, you will be an integral part of our global team of problem solvers and innovators.**Key Responsibilities:**- **Requirement Analysis:** Understand and analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and technical documents to identify testable components and clarify ambiguities with stakeholders.- **Test Planning:** Create a detailed test plan outlining scope, objectives, resources, schedule, and risk mitigation. Decide on testing types such as functional, regression, and performance testing.- **Test Case Design:** Write clear, comprehensive, and reusable test cases and test scripts, ensuring coverage for various scenarios.- **Test Execution:** Execute manual or automated test cases to validate application functionality against requirements.- **Defect Reporting & Tracking:** Log defects with detailed steps, screenshots, and severity, collaborating with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.- **Regression Testing:** Re-test after fixes to maintain the integrity of the application and its features.- **Framework Development/Maintenance:** Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable test automation frameworks using tools like Playwright and Selenium.- **Test Case Automation:** Develop and execute automated test cases for functional regression and integration testing.- **CI/CD Integration:** Integrate automated tests into continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines for efficient testing processes.- **Test Data Management:** Implement strategies for managing and provisioning test data efficiently to support testing activities.- **Innovation:** Work effectively to transform innovative ideas into practical solutions for testing processes.- **Troubleshooting:** Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to automated tests to ensure the effectiveness of the testing process.- **Reporting:** Generate comprehensive test reports, analyze results, and identify trends and areas for improvement.- **Mentorship:** Mentor junior team members and collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to enhance testing practices.**Qualifications:**- **Experience:** 5-7 years in software testing with a focus on test automation using Java and other tools.- **Skills:** Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective communication and collaboration skills.- **Knowledge:** Proven experience in testing Web Services, Web UI, APIs, Mobile Apps, and Salesforce applications.At Caterpillar Inc., we are committed to building a better world together, where your expertise in software testing and test automation will contribute to creating stronger and more sustainable communities.
