Tech Principal Software Engineer

Job Description

As a key member of Walmart Global Tech, you will lead, own, and/or support the architecture, design, and development of high-quality, scalable, and resilient enterprise products. Your responsibilities will include:- Architecting, designing, and implementing large-scale data and GenAI solutions that are performant, reliable, and secure.- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver software products that meet business goals and user needs.- Working in a highly performing agile team environment, sharing innovative ideas and working collaboratively across teams.- Collaborating with talented engineers and product visionaries to contribute to the vision and design of web and mobile products.- Developing best practices and client requirements for the software in collaboration with team members.- Troubleshooting coding problems efficiently to enhance your skills in a high-pace, high-impact environment.- Developing programs that monitor the sharing of private information to prioritize software security.- Interacting with Walmart engineering teams globally to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.- Performing root cause analysis on applications to answer specific business questions and identify improvement opportunities.- Measuring and improving product, operational, and portfolio performance using metrics/KPIs.- Learning new and changing technologies to ensure best software practices and standards.- Being a disruptive thinker who can lead software innovations.Qualifications Required:- Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science with a minimum of 12 years of Backend stack programming experience in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.- 8 years of experience in systems design, algorithms, and distributed systems.- Deep knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture, designing and implementing RESTful Web Services.- Strong skills in Java and/or Spring framework, JVM internals (concurrency, multi-threading), algorithms, data structures, and database concepts.- Experience with large-scale data processing, stream processing technologies like Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka.- Hands-on experience with GenAI concepts and technologies.- Knowledge of storage technologies such as Cosmos DB, Elastic Search, Hive, Cassandra, Hadoop, and Kafka.- Cloud Development experience with GCP or Azure.- Experience in building scalable/highly available distributed systems in production.- Knowledge of Software Engineering best practices including CI/CD, Log aggregation/Monitoring/alerting.- General understanding of the software development lifecycle from planning to deployment.- Working experience with multithreading, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.- Technical feasibility of UI/UX designs, knowledge of Accessibility design principles.- Experience with Figma and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.Join Walmart Global Tech, where you can kickstart a great career in tech, gain new skills, and innovate at scale to impact millions and reimagine the future of retail.
