Job Description

You will be responsible for identifying, managing, and controlling legal risks for DBS India. Your role will involve developing and building an effective Legal function that supports the overall strategic agenda and growth of DBS India by providing pragmatic and effective legal advice. You will assist in designing and implementing procedures to reduce legal risk and contribute to the development of DBS Indias strategy by identifying legal risks and delivering strategic legal risk management initiatives. Additionally, you will manage litigation, evaluate strategies, identify risks, and provide updates to management. Your role will also involve providing legal guidance and assistance to the Branch Banking team on a daily basis, managing cases filed against the bank, handling consumer cases, civil disputes, and employee-related legal matters effectively.Key responsibilities include:- Managing legal risk for DBS India and providing pragmatic legal advice- Contributing to the development of DBS Indias strategy by identifying legal risks- Managing litigation, evaluating strategies, and providing updates to management- Providing legal guidance and support to business units, specifically the Collections and SAM teams- Handling fraud matters, including filing complaints and FIRs with law enforcement authorities- Ensuring compliance with legal standards and policies in new projects, systems, procedures, and products- Providing high-quality legal advice to business managers and controlling external legal resources- Offering education, training, and support to businesses on relevant legal risk issues- Building relationships with business areas and third parties to enhance team output and service quality- Monitoring client satisfaction and the legal effectiveness of individual transactionsQualifications required:- Qualified lawyer with post-qualification experience in banking law- 10-15 years of experience in commercial and banking laws and industry practice- Good academic background with LLB/LLM or other recognized legal degree- Excellent diagnostic, communication, negotiation, and comprehension skills- Strong formal presentation skills and attention to detail- Proven leadership experience and team coordination skills- Ability to think creatively and identify innovative solutions- Extensive knowledge of banking and commercial law and relevant laws and regulations in IndiaThe company offers a competitive salary and benefits package in a dynamic environment that supports your development and recognizes your achievements.
