Job Description

Job Profile

The work domain includes aiding the government, both the State and Central, in the implementation of the existing environmental norms of the coal-based power sector, improving the existing policies on energy efficiency of TPPs/heavy industries/SMEs, working on frameworks to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the industrial sector and improving reach of affordable and sustainable energy.

He/she will need to follow regulatory and technical developments in India as well as in other countries, assist the team in researching and such policy changes for internal discussions and give feedback to relevant stakeholders including the Govt. The candidate must be willing to travel both within India and abroad as per the project requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The candidate is expected to interact with the senior officials of industries, suppliers and regulators to get a comprehensive understanding of policy issues in the sector.
  • He / She will assist in undertaking literature review and collaborate with industry experts to analyse plans of individual industries, identify gaps and give technical guidance and corrective ideas to the stakeholders. Assist the team in preparing action plans for the state regulatory agencies and assist the agencies to monitor the progress made thereof.
  • He / She will assist the team in analysing the existing policies to understand the success rate, and improvise the framework to promote energy efficiency in industries.
  • He / She will work to understand the current carbon dioxide emission levels from the industrial segments, interact with relevant stakeholders to assist in framing a roadmap to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in industries.
  • Organize capacity building programmes to build capacity of the state-level regulators to ensure robust monitoring and enforcement.
  • Assist the team in advocacy efforts to push CSE research that includes public engagement activities like organising/participating in seminars and interacting with civil society, industry officials, and regulators.

The candidate will report to Programme Manager (Industrial Pollution Programme). The candidate is expected to assist the Programme Manager in quick analysis of contents and sharpen the research findings of the team.

Location: The position is based in New Delhi.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor or Master in Engineering / Environment Sciences.
  • Around 3-6 years of work experience in thermal power sector, heavy industrial sector or domains of pollution control.
  • Experience in energy and environment policy will serve as an added advantage.

Necessary Skills:

  • It is vital that the candidate should be hard working, has good work ethic and self-disciplined.
  • Basic understanding of power/heavy industry/pollution control sector.
  • Must have experience/knowledge of environmental monitoring process.
  • Strong research and analytical skills can quickly absorb wide-ranging material, analyse information and produce coherent conclusion.
  • Good verbal communication and inter personal skills.
  • Good writing skills with an experience of technical writing.
  • Travelling may constitute 30 per cent of the total work hours over the year. Candidate must be willing to travel extensively.
