Programme Officer for Energy Programme - Renewable Programme Officer for Energy Programme - Renewable The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is one of India s leading public interest research institutes. It is known for its rigorous scientific policy research and advocacy on environmental issues. CSE is looking for a Programme Officer for its renewable energy (RE) team. About Programme CSE s renewable energy programme enables energy transition to green energy to help address urgent concerns of air pollution and climate change. This entails supporting pathways and strategies that facilitate increased penetration of renewable energy sources, with a special focus on market reforms, decentralised generation and clean cooking. In the past decade, CSE has emerged as a prominent player in renewable energy policy advocacy nationally and has expanded internationally to various Asian and African countries. The objective is to promote sustainable energy practices under a South-South Cooperation initiative for renewable energy development, and for controlling emissions from coal-based power plants. Job Profile The candidate will undertake research and advocacy to push de-carbonisation, and enhance renewable energy targets and access to clean energy. The candidate will carry out research through both primary data collection and secondary literature studies to produce research output, including reports, policy briefs and articles. He/she will disseminate research output and assist in advocacy efforts through active engagement with policy makers, industry players, think-tanks and civil society. The candidate will identify and communicate extensively with these stakeholders to build networks, develop partnerships, and organise meetings/conferences. He/she will need to follow regulatory and technical developments, analyse and critique policy changes and give formal/informal feedback to relevant stakeholders, including the government. The candidate will also assist in CSE s efforts to promote renewable energy globally. Necessary Skills: Good understanding of the energy sector, especially policy and regulatory aspects. Strong research and analytical skills ability to quickly absorb and analyse wide-ranging material and produce well-structured reports. Precise, lucid writing; confident, articulate speaker. Vital that the candidate can deliver under pressure, meet tight deadlines and is self-motivated. Good inter personal skills; needs to be good at networking. Willingness to travel when required. Total work experience of 4-7 years. Prior research and writing experience is essential, while prior advocacy experience is desirable. Candidates with both technical and social sciences qualifications can apply. A mix of technical and policy background would be preferred. Salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience.,
