Senior Associate Communications (Electric Mobility)

Job Description

Responsibilities: The candidate will work with the program team and interact with core communication team for the following project responsibilities:

• Identifying target groups for WRI India s EV work

• Developing key messages and its delivery strategy for the various target group

• Liaising regularly with the mainstream English and Regional news media outlets.

• Basic Copy-editing skills are required.

• Abilities to create infographics and images, pictures that will very well deliver the key ideas of the projects and programs related to electric mobility.

• Offering media intelligence to the program teams and mapping the media opportunities to showcase WRI India s programmatic work in the mainstream media. This would include constant tracking and monitoring for the performance and viewership of the content related to electric mobility in all possible social media platforms.

• Liaising with regional and language news media, in Delhi as well as the states and regions where WRI India is active.

• Coordinating with the respective teams to ensure that WRI India news coverage is promptly and systematically shared on the organization s social media platforms, websites and in any newsletters, recap mailers or staff updates.

• Creating and maintaining a database of international, national, regional and language (where WRI India is active) journalists, with clear and updated information on their beats, areas of interest, work location and contact details.

• Aim at building the profile of WRI India staff as experts. Aim to regularly place WRI India mentions/quotes in news stories pertaining to our areas of interest in electric mobility.

• At events, participate actively in media interaction, ensure that press kits are assembled and distributed smoothly and actively discuss possible story pitches with journalists.

• Interacting and coordinating with WRI India s communication team

Qualifications:

• Master s degree in journalism, communications, social or environmental studies, or English language or literature preferred.

• Minimum 7-10 years of full-time experience working in any of the following:

• Reporter/Correspondent in print, electronic or online media with experience in covering a beat

• Marketing and outreach

• Business strategies through digital marketing.

• Sub-editor in print or online media

• Media communicator in the social sector or an environmental organization

• Stay updated on policy, political and social developments through regular news scan and analysis especially in the transport and environment sector.

Required Competencies:

• Excellent writing and editing skills in English.

• A digital marketing background with considerable newsroom experience with an outstanding ability to network.

• Should have a basic understanding of transport and environment sectors, with a special emphasis to electric mobility.

• Should be versatile in software s such as Adobe creative programs such as photoshop, InDesign, illustration.

• Should have professional video editing skills.

• Should know how to monitor performance through social media analytics.

• Should be able to translate complex information into simple and snackable form for social media.

Desired Competencies:

• Excellent organizational skills, attention to details, ability to manage multiple tasks across different teams, and take the initiative.

• Pre-existing and strong network in print and digital media.

• Proficiency in an additional Indian language would be an added benefit.
