Job Dimensions: Grade 26
Job Duties: Sr. G eotechnical Engineer to support geotechnical engineering activities for the NEOM project. The position will be part of Bechtel s NEOM Project Design Review Team and will be based in New Delhi, India. The successful candidate is expected to work independently, but will report to and receive technical supervision and functional oversight from a Lead Geotechnical Engineer or another engineer assigned by the Design Review Team Manager as required.
Position requires knowledge of subsurface investigations and laboratory testing, development of geotechnical parameters based on the results of the investigation and geotechnical design. Responsiblities include reviewing geotechnical aspects of drawings and specifications, geotechnical analyses and reports covering topics such as geotechnical investigations, earthwork, stability of slopes, bearing capacity and settlement of shallow and deep foundations, lateral earth pressures, axial and lateral pile capacities, support of excavations, etc. Work will also involve communication on geotechnical issues with the project team during the engineering design and construction stages of the project.
Qualifications/Experience
Essential Technical Skills: (5 required technical skills to be used for basic screening)
An M.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of working experience in that field or a person with a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering and minimum 3 years of experience. Professional registration is preferred.
Advanced proficiency level in subsurface investigations, foundation analysis and design, earthwork, slope stability, support of excavations.
Should be familiar with geotechnical engineering computer program applications such as (or equivalent to) Flac, Plaxis, LPILE, GROUP , SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, GRLWEAP, gINT, etc.
Must be familiar with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Essential Behavioral Skills: (5 required behavioural skills to be used for basic screening)
Must demonstrate strong verbal and written skills to communicate with team in preparation of reports, memos and other forms of documentation and communication.
Must embrace Bechtel s diversity&inclusion, leadership, quality, and safety values.
Act as a mentor for younger Engineers and Designers.
Participate in technical excellence activities.
Preferred Technical Skills:
Previous experience with geotechnical aspects of rail design is preferred.
Preferred Behavioral Skills:
Previous ex perience with projects executed in the Middle East or Saudi Arabia is preferred.
Previous experience working on large international projects is preferred.
Previous experience working for a large engineering / procurement / construction contractor is preferred.
