Job Description

    As an Assistant Vice President Finance Operations GSC at HSBC, you will play a crucial role in managing complex accounting events within the Financial Accounting sub-function. Your responsibilities will include:- Managing complex accounting events such as manual journals to ensure a robust accounting and business insight into analysis, substantiation, exception management, and book closure.- Monitoring the entity PL to ensure consistency and providing elaborate rationale for any abnormal movement.- Ensuring timely closing of the ledger as per Group timelines.- Managing monthly and quarterly Reporting, MI, and manual returns.- Serving as a subject matter expert in closure of books per IFRS.- Coordinating with regional finance teams for preparation of accounts, timely closure of GL, and completion of Site Reporting.- Operating within tight deadlines for production and reporting activities without compromising on accuracy.- Establishing and running a strong quality control framework for outputs and activities.- Leading new projects/assignments/processes by identifying, driving, building, and operating them as BAU.- Driving governance on exceptions and seeking inputs from various stakeholders.- Ability to prioritize and plan work efficiently.Qualifications required for this role include:- CA/CPA/ACCA/MBA/ICWAI with at least 8 years or B. Com with 12 years of post-qualification experience in accounting and reporting.- Prior experience in month-end closure processes and Site Reporting.- Strong knowledge of month-end closure & Reporting processes at Financial Institutions preferred.- Proven track record of role in controllership in BFSI sector and sound knowledge of financial products and businesses.- Excellent communication skills and experience in explaining complex technical matters simply.- Good knowledge of Analytical tools, MS Access Database, SAS will be an added advantage.- Change and transformation experience will be a plus.- Working knowledge of GL System.- Experience in policy interpretation and implementation.- Previous tenured employment with a Financial Institution will be an advantage.- Experience of working with colleagues and stakeholders cross-border in a multinational organization.- Working/detailed knowledge of Operational framework/rules.- Proven track record of leading by example in terms of values and behavior.At HSBC, we are committed to providing a workplace that fosters continuous professional development, flexible working, and opportunities to grow within an inclusive and diverse environment.
