Job Description

    Role Overview:As a Data Engineer at Amgen, you will play a vital role in the development and maintenance of software to support target/biomarker discovery. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and implementing data pipelines, optimizing large datasets for query performance, collaborating with global cross-functional teams, ensuring data security and privacy, and exploring new tools and technologies to improve ETL platform performance.Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, and implement data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration solutions- Contribute to data models for biopharma scientific data and optimize large datasets for query performance- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design solutions- Implement data security measures to protect sensitive data and leverage cloud platforms for efficient data solutions- Adhere to best practices for coding, testing, and designing reusable code/components- Explore new tools and technologies to improve ETL platform performance and provide estimations on technical implementation- Maintain documentation of processes, systems, and solutionsQualifications Required:- Masters degree/Bachelors Degree and 5 to 9 years of experience in Computer Science, IT, Computational Chemistry, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, or related field- Proficiency with SQL and Python for data engineering, test automation frameworks, and scripting tasks- Hands-on experience with big data technologies and platforms such as Databricks, Apache Spark, and workflow orchestration- Experience with cloud computing platforms and infrastructure, preferably AWS- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with large, complex datasets- Basic understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration concepts- Excellent critical-thinking, communication, and collaboration skillsAdditional Company Details:Amgen is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people worldwide by fostering an inclusive environment of diverse, ethical, committed, and highly accomplished individuals who respect each other and advance science to serve patients.
