Java Backend Engineer, Senior Associate

Job Description

Role Overview:As a Senior Associate Java Backend Engineer at Charles River, you will play a key role in enhancing and maintaining one or more Charles River IMS modules or components as part of an agile scrum team. Your responsibilities will include providing engineering troubleshooting assistance to customer support teams and collaborating with other development teams within Charles River.Key Responsibilities:- Analyze, design, develop, test, and debug small to medium software enhancements and solutions within Charles Rivers business and technical problem domains with minimal supervision- Develop, test, debug, and implement software programs, applications, and projects using Java, SQL, JavaScript, or other software-related engineering languages- Offer thoughtful insights and suggestions in code reviews- Write unit and automation tests to ensure a high-quality end product- Conduct manual tests to ensure a high-quality end product- Actively participate in the agile software development process following the CRD scrum methodology, including attending daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectivesQualifications:- Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field required; Masters degree strongly preferred- Experience: - 7 to 10 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in a financial services product delivery setting - Minimum 6 years of Java experience required - 4 years of experience in developing microservices using Springboot - 2 to 3 years of experience with Azure, AWS, or other cloud systems required - 2 years of experience in writing test cases using Junit strongly desired - Good to have experience with Javascript, Angular, or React JS - Good to have experience with messaging services like Azure Service Bus or Rabbit MQ - 1 to 2 years of experience in financial services developing solutions for Portfolio Management desired - Working experience with Docker is an added advantage - Experience with object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases (RDBMS), scripting, and new/advanced programming languages - Ability to work on projects with little to no supervision and on more complex tasks with moderate oversight - Good written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment - Minimum of 2 years working with an Agile development methodology strongly desiredAdditional Information:About State Street:State Street is a global institution where institutional investors rely on the team to manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability.
