Senior RWE Scientific Data Analyst

Job Description

As a member of the Real World Evidence (RWE) team at Novartis, you will have the opportunity to work with a vast amount of patient datasets on a daily basis. Your main responsibility will be to independently develop, modify, and debug programming routines using languages such as SAS, R, or Python, as well as complex SQL queries to extract, clean, manage, and analyze large databases. It is essential that you are familiar with healthcare databases like healthcare claims, Electronic Medical Records, and Registries.Your key responsibilities will include:- Leading the development of programming using SAS or R along with complex SQL queries for health outcomes research, utilizing various data sources such as medical and pharmacy claims data, hospital data, electronic medical record data, and prospective observational study data.- Providing guidance and translating study designs into algorithms to extract, analyze, and report secondary data for Non-Interventional Studies (NIS) or interactive data visualization tools.- Collaborating with RWE Research Analysts to scope and design projects, utilizing tools such as R, R/Shiny, SAS, Impala, git, or JIRA.- Conducting observational data analyses, statistical programming, and developing RWE dashboards, including experience in machine learning and data mining techniques.- Ensuring consistency and compliance with company standards in project documentation for observational studies and interactive data visualization tools.- Supporting project timelines, alerting project managers of any risks, and interacting with customers regularly to provide updates on project progress.- Presenting results, project summaries, and analytical techniques to customers, stakeholders, and internal audiences, as well as mentoring junior team members.Qualifications required for this role include:- Bachelors degree with 5 years of experience or Masters degree with 3 years of experience in programming or data science in the pharma industry, contract research organization, or academic institute.- Expertise in R packages such as Shiny, Rmarkdown, ggplot, plotly, data.table, and dplyr, with experience in version control tools like git or JIRA.- Strong programming experience with data manipulation, analysis, visualization using SAS or R, SQL, and statistical software.- Proficiency in SQL querying with platforms like Hive, Impala, MySQL, OracleSQL, or similar, and experience with big data platforms like Hadoop, Apache Spark.- Excellent problem-solving abilities, statistical methods knowledge, and written/verbal communication skills.- Ability to work collaboratively, prioritize tasks, and provide input in research data management and analysis activities.- Openness to experimentation, innovation, and a commitment to quality excellence.At Novartis, you will be part of a diverse and inclusive environment where new insights and solutions are encouraged.
