Job Description

As a Senior Technical Lead, Software Engineering at Vertafore, your role involves delivering value to customers through implementation, technical configurations, and providing technical recommendations and solutions to business problems. You will shape and improve the experience of key Vertafore clients by working cross-functionally across various departments. Your responsibilities include:- Developing forward-thinking, technical implementation recommendations aligned with clients business objectives.- Working with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to translate business goals into technical solutions.- Configuring or designing complex reports or integrations.- Providing input into project plans and estimating implementation costs.- Mentoring junior engineers, conducting code reviews, fostering skill development, and enhancing team productivity.- Conducting reviews and delivering demos to the team and customers.- Troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis to resolve customer challenges.- Acting as a release engineer to ensure all configurations are deployed in all implementation environments and maintaining environment health.- Working on performance issues and implementing necessary changes.- Ensuring all committed timelines are met and coordinating with other teams to complete tasks on time.- Mentoring other team members and staying updated on industry trends and the open-source community.In terms of knowledge, skills, and abilities, you should have expertise in:- Setting technical vision, defining architecture, ensuring best practices, and driving innovation for product features.- Deep knowledge of .NET 8, C#, Web API development, design patterns, and SOLID principles.- Decent knowledge of React, TypeScript, React Query, modern state management patterns, Alloy, or similar enterprise UI component frameworks.- Proficiency in SQL Server, NUnit for unit testing, and API versioning with authentication/authorization.- Exposure to AI-based tools and/or GitHub CoPilot.- Strong mentorship, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.- Clear communication to explain and defend design decisions.- Overseeing the development lifecycle, managing technical risks, ensuring timely delivery, and resolving complex issues.- Aligning technical efforts with overall product strategy and business objectives.- Being driven to improve personally and professionally, as well as mentoring and inspiring others.- Establishing coding standards, implementing QA processes, optimizing performance, and ensuring system stability.- Collaborating with peers to design pragmatic solutions and operating best in a fast-paced, flexible work environment.- Preparing technical training and information sessions for other staff.To qualify for this role, you should:- Have an intense passion for building software and mentoring teams.- Possess 8 to 10 years of professional experience as a Full Stack Developer, with strong back-end skills in .NET and optional skills in React.- Be proficient in Agile/Scrum methodologies and security best practices for software and data platforms.- Design perfect-fit solutions with engineering teams and business units to drive business growth and customer satisfaction.- Enjoy problem-solving through the entire application stack and be open to learning other programming languages as needed.If this opportunity aligns with your career aspirations and expertise, we encourage you to consider joining Vertafore and contribute to shaping the future of the insurance industry.
