Job Description

    Role Overview:As the Director of Finance, Strategy at Avalara, you will play a critical leadership role by partnering with functional leaders to provide strategic financial insights and actions. Your exceptional communication and analytical skills will be essential in fostering trusted relationships with senior leadership. You will be responsible for developing a high-performing team of financial analysts and financial systems analysts, managing financial reporting, forecasting, variance analysis, and supporting the Global FP&A team.Key Responsibilities:- Be a strategic partner to functional leaders, offering insightful analysis and recommendations for informed decision-making and ensuring consistent strategy, measurement, and reporting across the global organization.- Develop and mentor a team of financial analysts and financial systems analysts, focusing on individual career growth and overall team performance.- Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely financial reports and variance analysis, effectively communicating important drivers to senior leadership.- Collaborate with the Global FP&A team to ensure alignment on strategic programs, financial targets, and data and process consistency.- Oversee and enhance financial planning processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and strategic value.- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through proactive analytics and financial modeling.- Identify opportunities for improving internal processes, establishing best practices, and leading changes and improvements to support team growth.- Lead a team of financial planning and analysis, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial data and management reporting.Qualifications Required:- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.- 10 years of progressive finance experience with demonstrated strategic leadership responsibilities.- Experience in leading and developing high-performing finance teams.- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership.- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.- Proficiency with financial planning systems and tools, specifically experience with optimizing financial systems like Workday Adaptive or Anaplan.- Ability to foster relationships of trust and collaboration at all organizational levels.Additional Company Details:Avalara is a dynamic organization that strongly supports diversity, equity, and inclusion, integrating these values into their business practices and organizational culture.
