Lead DevOps Engineer

Job Description

As a Lead DevOps Engineer at Global Payments, you will play a crucial role in combining software development and IT operations practices to shorten the systems delivery life cycle and provide a continuous delivery platform. Your responsibilities will include:- Architecting and implementing automated build, test, and deployment workflows using tools like Harness.io and GitHub Actions.- Developing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code (IaC) pipelines using Terraform.- Ensuring consistent provisioning and configuration of cloud resources in AWS or Google Cloud Platform.- Monitoring cost, performance, and security posture and recommending/implementing improvements.- Working with application teams to onboard services onto CI/CD pipelines, define branching strategies, and automate release gates.- Integrating testing frameworks and observability tools into workflows.- Diagnosing and resolving pipeline failures, infrastructure provisioning errors, or environment drift.- Collaborating with security teams to integrate automated vulnerability detection and reporting into CI/CD pipelines.- Configuring and maintaining secure and reliable log forwarding to observability platforms such as Splunk.- Assisting other developers with technical issues, onboarding them to frameworks, and providing necessary support.- Migrating older technology implementations to modern container/Kubernetes platforms.- Ensuring logs meet compliance, audit, and monitoring requirements.- Researching trends in the current technology domain, discovering new tools, and garnering consensus for internal adoption.- Mentoring and training junior and mid-level engineers on the team.In this role, the minimum qualifications required are:- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline- Minimum of 6 years of experience in IT with expertise in complex technology solutionsPreferred qualifications include familiarity with container orchestration, experience with policy-as-code tools, exposure to security automation, understanding of Git branching strategies, cloud certifications, SAFe certification, working with remote teams, experience with legacy code migration, experience with SF DX, and continuous integration build engines.As a Lead DevOps Engineer at Global Payments, you will need to have wide-ranging experience, use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways, work on complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation, and coordinate activities of other personnel.
