Product and Applications Engineer

Job Description

As a Product Application Engineer based in Pune, your primary responsibility will be to work closely with account management/customers to develop a workable exhaust system layout and to identify and resolve system-level issues. You will act as the engineering face to the customer and collaborate with the manufacturing team and customer to finalize designs feasible for manufacture. Your key responsibilities will include:- Generating/maintaining detailed models of designs and system-level Bill of Materials.- Generating specifications for products such as 2D prints and engineering specifications.- Initiating and coordinating technical support work including bellow design flow and vibration testing.- Ensuring Design for Manufacturability (DFM) is implemented in the development of designs (DQR, DVA Design Reviews, etc.).- Finalizing Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) with customers and leading tests such as RLDA, temperature drop, and vibration.- Conducting field failure analysis and managing project schedules.- Traveling to customer and supplier sites as necessary for on-site testing and technology presentations.- Reviewing, approving, and processing Customer Print Conformance.To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:- Proficiency in CAD modeling and print creation.- Strong project management skills.- Self-motivated, customer-focused, and independent.- Excellent problem-solving skills and solid written and oral communication.- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a cross-functional team environment.- Good computer skills with Office applications.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:- A degree in BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required.- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.- 4 to 8 years of experience in product design using solid modeling tools, preferably Inventor.- Basic understanding of exhaust systems and bellows is preferred.- Basic knowledge of vehicle chassis systems and exhaust components/after-treatment is a plus.
