Senior Application Developer

Job Description

As a Java/SQL Developer, you will be responsible for supporting the Student Information System (SIS) SaaS environment (K-12) and working in a dynamic Agile programming team environment. Your main tasks will include producing high-quality code on time and on target, researching and understanding product requirements, and engineering software through its complete lifecycle. You will also be involved in developing and modifying reports within the Java reporting tool, Jasper Reports, as well as customizing Java code and SQL for specific applications. Applying DevOps best practices and documenting code and work following development standards are also key aspects of this role.Key Responsibilities:- Supporting the Student Information System (SIS) SaaS environment (K-12)- Working in a dynamic Agile programming team environment- Producing high quality code, on time, and on target- Researching and understanding product requirements- Engineering software through its complete lifecycle- Developing and modifying reports within Java reporting tool, Jasper Reports- Developing and modifying customized Java code for specific applications- Developing and modifying customized SQL for reporting- Applying DevOps best practices- Documenting code and work following development standardsQualifications Required:- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience- Strong Java development skills - ORM frameworks such as Apache OJB, Web services, Java Servlet/JSP, MVC patterns (5 years)- Strong web development skills - HTML / XML, JavaScript / jQuery, CSS (5 years)- Strong SQL Server skills (1 to 3 years)- Strong object-oriented programming and analysis skills (5 years)- Demonstrated experience and advocate for test-driven development- DevOps, Agile (1 to 3 years)- Source Control Git (1 to 3 years)- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, energy and passion for software development and the ability to work in a team environmentDesirable Skills/Experience:- Apache OJB (3 to 5 years)- Tomcat / JBoss (1 to 3 years)- Proficiency with Eclipse IDEPlease note that the role requires you to be willing to work in the US/Canada EST time zone.
