Senior Data Engineer (Data Modeler)

Job Description

Role Overview:Nissan is seeking a Hands-On data modeler to be part of the Enterprise Data Management team, integral to Nissans data strategy in developing new digital offerings. As part of the Nissan Next initiative, you will be responsible for building next-generation data warehouses, data lakes, and business intelligence solutions in AWS. Your role will involve understanding business requirements, conceptualizing, and designing scalable data models for data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts.Key Responsibilities:- Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions.- Collaborate with the Application Development team to implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual data models.- Create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy.- Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects.- Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models.- Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts.- Develop data models according to company standards.Qualifications Required:- Minimum 6-8 years of experience in the data modeling space.- Design logical and physical models across multiple Data Warehouses.- Experienced in database technologies, data design, and performance optimization for large OLAP & Data Warehouse solutions.- Working knowledge of ETL tools like Talend is preferred.- Experienced in driving data design and end-to-end processing.- Expert in relational and dimensional structures for large operational, analytical, warehouse, and BI systems.- Skilled in data profiling, business domain modeling, logical data modeling, physical dimensional data modeling, and design.- Experience with data modeling concepts (conceptual/logical/physical/semantic, multi-dimensional models (star, snowflake), normalized/denormalized models).- Strong skills in Entity Relationship Modeling (ERWin modeling software preferred).- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong relationship-building skills.- Ability to work in a large, complex business and technical environment.- Experience with Automotive domain is preferable.- Experience with Erwin or similar data modeling tool, strong Snowflake/SQL expertise.
