Job Description

The Network Reliability Engineering (NRE) team at Oracle Cloud is responsible for ensuring the robustness of the Oracle Cloud Network Infrastructure. As a Network Reliability Engineer, your primary focus will be on applying an engineering approach to measure and automate network reliability to align with the organizations service-level objectives, agreements, and goals.Your duties will include promptly responding to network disruptions, identifying the root cause, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to restore functionality. Automation of recurring tasks will be a critical aspect of your role, aimed at streamlining processes, improving workflow efficiency, and increasing overall productivity.Given the global nature of OCIs cloud-based network, which comprises hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers, your responsibilities will involve designing, writing, and deploying network monitoring and automation software. This will contribute to enhancing the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services.To qualify for this position, you should hold a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field with at least 8 years of Network Engineering experience, or a Masters degree with 5 years of relevant experience. Previous experience in a large ISP or cloud provider environment, as well as in a network operations role, will be advantageous.Strong knowledge of protocols such as MPLS, BGP, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, SSL, VxLAN, and EVPN is required. Additionally, a deeper understanding of Data Center build and design, including CLoS architecture, is essential. Proficiency in scripting or automation, with a preference for Python, is necessary, along with hands-on experience with network monitoring and telemetry solutions like Prometheus.As a Network Reliability Engineer, you will collaborate with the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of services and technology areas. You will support the design, deployment, and operation of a large-scale global Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, with a primary focus on network fabric and systems. Your responsibilities will also include participating in operational rotations, mentoring junior engineers, and developing solutions to enable front-line support teams to address network failure conditions.In this role, you will play a key part in the network solution and architecture design process, contributing to operational procedures, automation, and network monitoring. Your expertise will be crucial in providing break-fix support, leading root cause analysis, and developing scripts to automate routine tasks.
