Job Description

As an IGCSE Design & Technology (0445) Teacher at The Vels Academy, Erode, Tamil Nadu, you will play a crucial role in inspiring students to explore design thinking, product innovation, and technological problem-solving through hands-on projects and reflective practice. Your responsibilities will include:- Delivering engaging and well-structured lessons aligned with the Cambridge IGCSE Design & Technology (0445) syllabus.- Fostering creativity, critical thinking, and design-based problem-solving through practical and theory sessions.- Guiding students through the Design Project (Component 2) and supporting them in ideation, prototyping, and evaluation.- Maintaining a well-equipped, safe, and organized design lab/workshop environment.- Integrating digital tools (CAD, 3D modeling, etc.) and sustainability principles into classroom practice.- Assessing and reporting on students progress in accordance with Cambridge standards and school policies.- Collaborating with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and contribute to curriculum development.- Participating in school events, exhibitions, and innovation showcases.Qualifications & Experience required for this role include:- Bachelors or Masters degree in Design, Engineering, Architecture, or Technology Education.- Teaching qualification or certification preferred (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent).- Prior experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE Design & Technology (0445) or similar international curriculum.- Strong proficiency in design software and workshop tools.- Excellent communication, classroom management, and mentoring skills.Desired Attributes for the ideal candidate are:- A reflective practitioner with a growth mindset.- Passionate about design thinking and real-world problem-solving.- Collaborative and innovative educator who fosters curiosity and confidence in learners.- Committed to The Vels Academys values of Reverence, Resilience, and Compassion.Join The Vels Academy, a forward-thinking Cambridge International school that empowers learners to think independently, act responsibly, and design solutions that make a difference in the real world.
