Job Description

    As an Assistant Project Planner at WSP, you will be joining the Environmental Project Management Team to contribute to the planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting of project performance within the environmental sector. Your role will involve assisting in the preparation and management of project programmes under the guidance of a Senior Project Planner or Project Manager. You will collaborate closely with Technical Project Managers, various environmental and engineering disciplines, business support functions, and clients to ensure high-quality programmes that support financial and resource forecasting.**Responsibilities:**- Contribute to the planning, scheduling, and controlling strategy for assigned projects.- Interface directly with international colleagues and translate their requirements into effective programmes.- Deliver progress reports internally and externally, communicating progress, changes, risks, and issues.- Ensure consistency of programmes across the portfolio of work.- Provide planning advice and direction to project staff, subconsultants, contractors, and clients.- Lead a performance culture that enhances delivery and individual capability.**Technical Skills:**- Demonstrable capability in Project Scheduling with expertise in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar planning products.- Advanced knowledge of planning philosophies, principals, practices, and techniques.- Proficiency in Critical Path Analysis, Earned Value Techniques, and project management skills.- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in project planning and controlling.- Advanced expertise in using MS Excel/Word for developing tools and reports.- Understanding of Project Management principles with commercial awareness.**People Skills:**- Ability for team leadership and line management, including reviewing work completed by Junior planners/controllers.- Experience working with UK personnel and proficiency in English.- Capability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.- Effective time management across a wide portfolio of projects.**Preferred Skills:**- Awareness of Primavera Risk Analysis tool and Quantitative Schedule/Cost Risk Analysis.- Hands-on experience with advanced Excel, Power Query, and PowerBI tools.- Experience in UK environmental projects and exposure to NEC contracts.**Qualifications:**- Minimum: Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent project/construction management qualification.- Preferable to have PMQ or PFQ certification.In addition to the job description, WSP is a global professional services consulting firm dedicated to technical expertise, strategic advisory services, and sustainable solutions across various sectors.
